You (and your buddies) scout your honey holes and you choose 1 fly pattern and 1 color for the day. Catch the most Black Bass using Catch-Photograph- and Release and you win. Simple.
Camping, dinner, and live music will take place at Coosa Outdoor Center on the banks of the Coosa River in Wetumpka, Alabama. We will have food available for purchase on Saturday night and multiple packages available.
The Southern OneFly Tournament is intended to encourage and allow participants to explore the skinny waters of Lake Mitchell, Lake Jordan, and the Coosa River below Jordan Dam. Learn more about the Coosa River by clicking here.
If you haven't visited Wetumpka, the City of Natural Beauty, you are in for a real treat. Southern One Fly is a three day fly fishing event with a one day tournament intended to celebrate the life and legend of Dave Whitlock while supporting Coosa Riverkeeper's efforts to protect the skinny water.
This tournament is unique to the by limiting participants to fish on the Coosa River and its tributaries while using only one color and Southern fly pattern through the day, which is slightly challenging yet still welcoming to anglers of all skill levels. Participants will be targeting members of the Black Bass family, making this event even more special!
FRIDAY:
Participants will have the chance to eat locally & explore Wetumpka while camping alongside the Coosa River at the former Coosa Outdoor Center.
SATURDAY
MORNING: Tournament begins (lines in at 6:30am), fishing from creeks on Lake Mitchell, and Lake Jordan with a heavy focus on the Coosa River in Wetumpka.
EVENING: Awards start at 5pm, followed by a low country boil with a film screening of a new project from Coosa Riverkeeper. Around 7pm live music begins, and we'll take a short break around 8pm to announce raffle winners.
SUNDAY
Reflect on memories made, pack up camp and ensure we leave no trace.
